What to Expect
This hands-on workshop is designed for confident beginners and intermediate sewists who are ready to tackle denim. You’ll work in a small group in our welcoming studio, choosing a jeans pattern from a suggested range that suits your style and skill level.
Over two full days, you’ll cover:
Choosing your size and cutting your denim
Personalized fitting guidance
Sewing techniques for mastering topstitching
Inserting a fly front
Tips and tricks from an experienced tutor who has made many pairs of jeans
Whether you love the idea of handmade wardrobe staples or you’re looking to build your garment-making confidence, this course will give you the skills (and the jeans!) to be proud of.
What’s Included
Expert tuition in a supportive setting
Use of studio equipment (sewing machines, overlockers, pressing tools, etc.)
Printed guidance and top tips to take home
Tea, coffee, and biscuits throughout the day
What You’ll Need to Bring
Your chosen denim (details provided upon booking)
Pattern (from our suggested list)
Notions like thread, zip, and topstitching thread – a full list will be provided
Lunch (or you can visit one of Crouch End’s local cafe or shops)
Who This Course is For
You should be comfortable using a sewing machine and have made a few garments before (trousers or shorts are a bonus but not essential). We’ll guide you through the trickier bits like fly construction and topstitching, so don’t worry if you’ve never done them before!
