Copy your clothes workshop
22nd June 10am-5pm
Taught by Moyna
Have a favourite piece of clothing you wish you could recreate? In this practical one-day workshop, you'll learn how to make a pattern from an existing garment—without taking it apart—so you can sew it again and again.
Whether it’s the perfect-fit top, a well-loved dress, or your go-to skirt, this workshop will show you how to capture the shape, style, and construction details and turn them into a pattern you can use at home.
What to Expect
This workshop is perfect for dressmakers who are comfortable with sewing garments and want to expand their skills. You’ll work with guidance from an experienced tutor to:
Choose a suitable garment to copy (you'll get advice ahead of time)
Trace and transfer the key shapes and construction lines
Learn techniques to copy more complex elements like darts, pleats, or facings
Add seam allowances, notches, and construction notes
Create a muslin (toile) to test the pattern, if time allows
This is a hands-on, skill-building day that’s perfect for levelling up your dressmaking abilities. You’ll leave with a self-drafted pattern and the knowledge to recreate one of your favourite wardrobe pieces at home.
What’s Included
Expert tuition and one-to-one support
Use of studio equipment and tools
Printed guidance to take home
Tea, coffee, and biscuits throughout the day
What You’ll Need to Bring
A garment you'd like to copy (guidance provided when you book)
Basic sewing tools if you have them (we’ll also have studio supplies)
Fabric for a muslin, if you’d like to test your pattern
Lunch (or you can visit one of Crouch End’s local cafe or shops)
Who This Course is For
This workshop is for confident sewists with dressmaking experience. While we won’t be sewing the final garment in class, you’ll gain a valuable skill and go home with a pattern you can use again and again
