Special courses Introduction to improvisational quilting

Introduction to improvisational quilting

£140.00
sold out

Sunday July 6th

10.30 am – 5pm

The wonderful Jessie Cutts will lead this small group workshop. You will be taken through an improvisational, free form approach to quilting, as well as learning the necessary techniques to make your own small sized quilt or wallhanging.

We will start by looking at inspiration and explore the creative approach taken to improvise the design of a quilt. We will then work through the process of creating your own quilted textile piece, that’s personal to you, exploring a way to quilt that suits you. At the end of the day you will have a beautiful piece of work and the skills to create more!

Techniques covered
Fabric palettes
Cutting and pieced composition
Construction of the quilt
Hand quilting
Simple fold-over binding and finishing

Sewing Level
Some experience. Some basic sewing experience is the minimum necessary, and you will need to be able to use a sewing machine. However, quilting experience is not necessary. You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you would like.
